Lorne Padman
Between working as a Director and National PR Manager of leading Australian label Vicious, spending time in the studio as Buzz Kitchen, and spinning A-grade sets at a swag of Melbournes premier clubs: Lorne Padman is a very busy man. Hes also a man on a musical mission.
One of the nations best-loved industry identities, Lorne has been on decks for over a decade. Growing up on a solid diet of electronic acts in the 80s including everything from the New Order to Underworld music has long been part of his hectic life. An avid clubber, it wasnt long before he sought to work in the inner sanctums of Perths clubland and while he worked as a lighting operator, he dreamed of being a DJ. Seeing as he possesses the patience of a goldfish, it was a good thing his dream didnt take long to materialize. After securing his first break under the tutelage of legendary WA DJ GaryJames at Orsinis, he, and his trademark big room hands up House sounds, soon became a regular fixture in Perths finest clubs and special event main rooms.
From his three year solo residency at BASE Lounge Bar (2001-04) and others at leading WA venues like Metro City, The Red Sea and Paramount; to his myriad of guest spots everywhere from Ambar to the Leederville Hotel; by working hard on decks and choosing his tracks wisely, Lorne made name for himself as one of Perths favourite DJs and established a reputation for rocking floors (and schmoozing bars) that any self-respecting DJ could only aspire to achieve.
Moving to Melbourne in 2004, Lorne picked up where he left off and hit the ground running: immediately hooking up with Vicious honcho and ARIA Award Winning DJ/Producer, Andy Van, and landing a job at the label. It didnt take long for working with (and around) some of the nations leading dance music talent (including Dirty South, John Course, The Potbelleez and Mind Electric) to have an impact on Lornes DJing with a constant stream of superb promos and demos rolling across his desk all day from every esteemed dance label in the world, how could it not?! Already an avid devotee of House, it was at this time that his passion quickly turned to obsession; and it was at this time that his silky, hands-up sets started capturing attention across the city.
